Protective Style: Cornrows into curly/messy bun.

One of the best things to do for you hair while on a HJ is to do low manipulation styles and protective styles. Wearing your hair in protective styles helps to keep your ends, the oldest part of your hair, off of your shirt. When wearing your hair down so much, your ends from rubbing on your shirt, can become split. Also, if you do styles that require a lot of manipulation, your hair is more likely to have more breakage from touching and manipulating it so much.

My cornrows in this picture, done by mom, took about 45 minutes to do, and I love how she did it going in three directions (the back goes upwards). My bun is curly because the night before I braided the hair that wasn't in a cornrow, and before doing this hairstyle, I took the braid out, and some of the cornrow. To do the bun, first put your hair into a high ponytail, then spread out the hair all around evenly, then push/tuck the ends of your hair upwards toward the elastic in your hair. After that, you put another elastic to secure the ends in your bun. Fix any fly aways with either bobby pins, or spray gel.
